The soccewr field (natural grass) remodeled in 1997, the rugby field (converted to artificial grass in 2007), the gymnasium, the tennis court, the exercise space and the rest of the facilities allow many members of the community to enjoy various sports.
During the 2002 World Cup, the soccer field was refurbished as a substitute facility with an international standard lawn; the German team used it for practice gaining attention to the facility.
Other facilities also have been refurbsihed and used for various national sports events for both standard and handicapped athletes.
Besides its functionality as a sports center, it is widely used as a leisure area including a festival held when its 120 plum trees blossom in early spring.
Cherry and ginkgo trees are beautiful and various flowers bloom from season to season in the park; it has been designated as one of the “100 favorite flower viewing spots in Kanagawa”.
Culture facilities are also availbe (i.e. “Kanagawa Art Hall”); furthermore the park is also the management center for Kanagawa’s parks.
